1. APPLICABILITY AND RANGE OF APPLICATION:
The UTV Type Universal Testing Machines are used for conducting tests like TENSION, COMPRESSION, BENDING, etc. on metals and other materials.
Machine consists of high gradedsteel casting & hydraulic cylinder at its center also two lead screws at both the ends. The cross head is mounted on lead screws with nuts. The UP& DOWN movement with gear motor. Load measurement with pressure transducer.
Load verification of the testing machine meets the requirement of IS 1828 - 1975.

FATIGUE TESTING MACHINE

APPLICATION & OPERATION :
Fatigue is one of the major reasons for failure of the materials used in all engineering designs. It is important to know fatigue properties of most of the materials before using them for actual application. Venus make Fatigue Testing Machine of VFT series is most suitable for measuring fatigue strength and to draw S-N diagram. These are used by research institute, Auto industries and materials manufacturers. This is a rotating beam type machine where load is applied in reverse bending manner. Standard 8 mm dia. Specimen is held in special holders at its ends and loaded such that it experiences a uniform bending moment. Specimen is rotated at 4200 RPM by a Motor. A complete cycle of reversed stress in all fibers of the specimen is produced during each revolution. The bending moment is applied through a lever system and can easily be charged by moving a weight Over a lever.

TORSION TESTING MACHINE
APPLICATION & OPERATION :
Torsion Testing Machine is designed for checking Torsional property of various metal wires, tubes, bars etc. Torque applied to the specimen is transferred to measuring dial through lever mechanism. Torque is measured by Pendulum Dynamometer system. Torque ranges can be adjusted by adding weights. Geared motor is used to exert required torque at other end of specimen. Autographic Recorder gives the relation between Torque and Angle of Twist. These machines are calibrated as per latest IS standards.
Calibration is within + 1% within operating range of all models.

APPLICATION
Venus Compression Testing Machine is designed to test metals and other materials such as refractory bricks, rock samples miving props, rubber parts etc. under compression, bending, transverse and shear loads, Hardness test on metals can also be conducted.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
Operation of the machine is by hydraulic transmission of load from the test specimen to a seperately housed load indicator. The hydraulic system is ideal since it replaces transmission of load through levers and knife edges which are prone to wear and damage due to shock on rupture of test pieces.
Load is applied by a hydrostatically lubricated ram. Main cylinder pressure is transmitted to the cylinder of the pendulum dynamometer housed in the control panel. The cylinder of the dynamometer is also of self-lubricating design. The piston of the dynamometer is also of self-lubricating design. The piston of the dynamometer is constantly rotated to eliminate friction. The load transmmitted to the cylinder of the dynamometer to eliminate is transferred through a lever system to a pendulum. Displacement of the pendulum actuates the rack and pinion mechanism which operates the load indicator pointer and the autographic recorder. The deflection of the pendulum represents the absolute load applied on the test specimen.
Return movement of the pendulum is effectively damped to absorb energy in the event of sudden breakage of specimen.
Machine cosists of :

1) STRAINING UNIT :
It consists of a hydraulic cylinder and a table coupled with the ram of hydraulic cylinder, mounted on to a robustbase. The cylinder and the ram are individually lapped to eliminate friction. The cross-head is connected to two screwed columns and is driven by a motor, for rapid adjustment of test height.

2) CONTROL PANEL :
The control panel consists of a power pack complete with drive motor and an oil tank, control valves, a pendulum dynamometer, a load indicator system and an autographic recorder.

Power Pack :
The power pack generates a maximum pressure of 200 kgf/cm2. The hydraulic pump provides continously non-pulsating oil flow. Hence the load application is very smooth.

Hydraulic Controls :
Hand operated wheels are used to control the flow to and from the hydraulic cylinder. The regulation of the oil is infinitely variable. Incorporated in the hydraulic system is a regulating valve. Which maintains a practically constant rate of table movement.

Load Indicator System :
This systems of a large dial and a pointer. A dummy pointer is provided to register the maximum load reached during the test. Different measuring ranges can be selected by changing relevent weights on the pendulum and operating the range selection knob. Also auto load section facility will be provided.
An overload tip switch is incorporated which automatically, cuts out the pump motor when the load range in use is exceeded.

Pendulum Dynamometer :
This unit permits selection of favourabloe hydraulic ratios producing relatively small frictional forces. Pressurised oil in the loading cylinder pushes up the measuring piston proportionately and actuates the special dynamometer system. The piston is constantly rotated to eliminate friction. The Dynamometer system is also provided with an integral damper and ensures high reliability of operation. The load transmitted to the dynamometer is transferred through a pendulum to the load indicator.

Autographic Continuous Roll Load-Elongation Recorder :
This unit is of the pen and drum type and is supplied as standard. The horizontal motion of the pen produces the ordinate of the diagram and the drum rotation produces the extension ordinate. In the ratio of either 1:5 or 1:10.
A continuous roll of graph paper is stored inside the drum and is easily replaced.

ACCURACY AND CALIBRATION :
All Venus Compression Testing Machines are closely controlled for sensivity, accuracy and calibration during every stage of manufacture. Every machine is then calibrated over each of its measuring ranges in accordance with the procedure laid down in British Standards 1610-1964.
Venus Compression Testing Machines comply with Grade "A" of BS 1610:1964. An accuracy of + 1% is guaranteed from 20% of the load range selected to full load.

VB 3000 (J)
Venus Brinell Hardness Tester, Model: VB-3000 (J) is a manually operated machine used for testing various samples of steel and other materials whether flat, round or irregular in shape.
A Steel /Tungsten Carbide ball of 5 mm or 10 mm Dia. is used to determine the impression on the samples. After the load is released the sample is removed from the machine and the impressions measured by 25 x magnification microscope supplied along with the same. The corresponding BHN value is obtained from the chart given in the Instruction Manual of the machine. These machines confirm to IS - 2281-1983 : BS 10003 - 2 & ASTM - E - 10

VENUS Brinell Hardness Tester, Model: VB-3000 (H) is an electrically operated machine suitable for measuring Brinell Hardness of Steel and other materials whether flat, round or irregular in shape.
The machine is supplied with a power pack and hydraulic circuit for easy loading and unloading operation. The Brinell Hardness Testing Machine combines the facility for carrying out rapid routine production testing and accepted standard Brinell Test.
The machine is provided with a dial indicator which measure the depth of the Brinell impression on the established principle of the difference between impression produced by a minor or contract load and the selected test load.
The use of the dial eliminates the necessity for reading the microscope for every impression. This machine can be used as a comparator within set Brinell Hardness limits.
These machines confirm to IS - 2281 - 1983 : BS 10003 - 2 & ASTM - E - 10

ROCKWELL HARDNESS TESTING MACHINE

Venus make Rockwell Hardness Tester are suitable for checking hardness of metals and their alloys.

These machines are designed and developed considering the component size to be tested on the machine as well as load and scales to be used by the customer.

These machines are manually operated, simple in design and easy to operate.
Rockwell Hardness Tester are available in various models like VAS, VAB, VAB- I, VAB- 250 & V-TWIN.
These models strictly confirms to IS : 1586 : 2000, BS : 891 Part I & II, ASTM -E18 for Rockwell test and IS : 2281 ; 1983, BS : 240, ASTM -E10 for Brinell test and IS : 1586 : 2000, ASTM -E18 for Rockwell superficial test.
